《语文报》第477号(1991年7月29日出版)上载有“说‘顶”一篇短文。该文写道:“《说文解字》:顶,‘巅也’。本义为山顶,属名词。山顶是山的最高部位。故引申为名词‘头顶’、‘头’。”笔者认为:该文正好把“顶”的本义和引申义弄颠倒了。正确的结论应该是:“顶”的本义是“人体的最高部位——头顶”,而“山的最高部位——山顶”则是“顶”的引申义,即它是由“头顶”之义引申而来的。其理由如下: 一、从字形结构分析来看:汉字是表意文字,一般来说,分析某字的形体结构,就能推知该字所代表的词的本义。“顶”字也应当如此。据《说文解字》(以下简称《说文》:“顶,颠也。从页,丁声。”由此可见,“顶”字属传统六书中的形声字,其形(意)符为“页”;形声字的形(意)符与该字的本义具有密切的关系。《说文》:“頁(页),头
