Herman Melville’s “Moby Dick” is rich in content, ecological criticism to make its rich connotation to be further presented. The description of Captain Ahab’s final bereavement of the sea by Captain Ahab’s insane beluga whale shows that only by living in harmony with nature can mankind be sustained or otherwise retaliate with nature. This theme of the work reflects Mervier’s foresight in predicting the natural ecological crisis and the useful exploration for solving the crisis. This article discusses this from three levels, hoping to promote people to understand the ecological awareness of Melville, thereby enhancing their awareness of environmental protection.
