236U is a long-lived radionuclide with a half-life of T1 / 2 = 2.342 (3) × 107a. It contains very little in nature. The 236U / 238U atomic ratio of natural uranium is about -10-14. At present, there are few reports on 236U and its measurement. The introduction of 236U was first introduced and the total amount of 236U in the Earth was estimated. The important applications of the 236U measurement in billionth grade neutron fluence rate integration assessment, nuclear environment and nuclear activity monitoring, and geology are outlined. Finally, the situation of 236U measured by accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) both at home and abroad is reviewed. The measurement of 236U-AMS is preliminarily established by AMS team of China Institute of Atomic Energy.
