终身教育是20世纪50年代末、60年代初形成于欧洲的一种国际教育思想。具体而言,这种教育思想充分地考虑到了当今社会科学技术的迅猛发展和知识更新的高速度,认为“谁都不能再希望在自己的青年时代就形成足够其一生享用的原始知识宝库”,因此,人们必须不断地学习新知识,以适应社会的发展。它强调教育不仅要授予学生走向社会所需要的知识,而且要以终身教育的思想为指导,发展学生继续学习的能力,以便将来走出校门后能够不断地获取新的知识。
Lifelong education is an international educational thought formed in Europe from the late 1950s and early 1960s. Specifically, this educational thinking fully takes into account the rapid development of social science and technology and the high speed of knowledge renewal at present, and holds that "no one can hope for a sufficient initial treasure trove of his life enjoyed in his youth. Therefore, people must constantly learn new knowledge to adapt to the development of society. It emphasizes that education should not only give students the knowledge they need to go to society, but also take the idea of lifelong education as a guide to develop their ability to continue studying so that they can continuously acquire new knowledge after going out of school.
