西方音乐史上泰斗级的作曲家约翰·塞巴斯蒂安·巴赫(1685—1750),是十八世纪上半叶欧洲最伟大、最有影响力的作曲家,也是巴洛克音乐时期的重要代表人物。提到巴赫,人们自然会把它同人类文明相联系起来,因为他的音乐艺术是世界文化最主要的组成部分之一。苏联音乐学家阿萨菲耶夫说:“巴赫是这样的伟大,他使人感到他不是一个人,而是一个强大的创作实验室,其中锻炼着当时所有音乐上的创作技能、风格、倾向和尝试。”
