中国古封建社会素有“重农轻商”的统治思想,尽管封建帝王为巩固统治地位而遏制了商业经济的发展,在我国秦汉、唐宋、明清时期,依然经历了三次商业高潮。古时民间对商人的态度往往是“奸商”的歧视,“士、农、工、商”中,商屈于末位,封建社会国家也没有明文的法律保护。在那样的年代,商人们就用他们天然的乡里、宗族关系联系起来,互相支持,规避恶性竞争矛盾,保护自己,于是,商帮就这样产生了。
