The analysis of methylated sugars is widely used to study the relative number of bonded sites and various bonded sites of monosaccharide residues in oligosaccharides and polysaccharide molecules. A reliable means of achieving this is GC-MS. Compared with gas chromatography, HPLC has the advantage of the sample without acetylation, but also suitable for the analysis of various sugars and derivatives.
