液化石油气与大多数物体一样,都具有热胀冷缩的特性,它的体积膨胀系数比水还大10~16倍。温度升高10℃时,液态体积膨胀大约3~4%,温度升高到一定程度,液体就会完全充满钢瓶。而一旦钢瓶内充满液体,液体膨胀力就会直接作用于钢瓶。从理论上讲温度升高1℃,压力就急剧上升20~30个大气压。钢瓶的爆破压力一般是80个大气压。也就是说温度只须上升3、4度,钢瓶就可引起爆破。
