单季晚稻是江苏太湖地区主要种植品种之一,生育期长达150天以上.生产中,除施足基肥外,还必需分期施用追肥,才能满足其高产对氮素营养的需要.六十年代初,在推广全国农业劳动模范陈永康晚稻高产施肥经验时,为了探讨基肥、长粗肥、促花肥和保花肥对壮秆、大穗、饱粒作用的机理,农业科学工作者从生理、栽培、土壤农化等各方面进行过研究,并取得一批成果.但当时因受试验手段的限制,未能分别观察到肥料氮与土壤氮在产量形成过程中的各自作用及其相互关系.
