An essay in my 8th Issue, Issue 8, 2012, titled “What’s Praised for Better Performance,” comes to my attention: Japanese scientists have discovered the scientific evidence that people will perform better when they are praised. The research team led by Professor Takeshi Fujita found that when a person is praised or rewarded for cash, the striatum in the brain becomes very active.
