众所周知,航天工业的特点是“试制多、生产少、要求高、变化快、周期短”。特别是要求研制周期短这一条,对航天产品来说具有特别重要的意义。为了适应这一特点,就要求在生产制造工艺上具有较大的柔性和较强的应变能力。产品一变化,工艺能立即相应跟上。国外航天产品的研制周期较短,除了由于其技术水平、工业基础、标准化程度等多种因素以外,生产制造工艺的柔性程度较大,同样也是其中的一个极为重要的因素。
