The Ministry of Health recently announced the epidemic of key infectious diseases in the country in the first half of 2003. Surprisingly, it is not an atypical pneumonia epidemic among the top infectious diseases and fatality rates, but an ancient disease: rabies. In 2002, there were 1122 rabies cases in the country and 1003 deaths. From January to June this year, the number of patients reached 545, an increase of 89 over the same period of last year. The vast majority were not cured. Rabies epidemic rise is mainly due to: the current population of dogs is gradually increasing, the city’s pet dogs, dogs and other rural areas increased significantly the number of dogs: dog owners due to dog registration, higher management fees and other factors
