Status Quo and Achievements According to the statistics provided by the National Bureau of Statistics, in 2001, the output value of China’s software and information service industry reached 79.6 billion yuan, up 34.2% over the same period of previous year, an increase of 34.3% over the same period of last year, almost at the same rate as the GDP growth rate 5 times of that of the previous year; its share in the national GDP increased from 0.54% in 1999 to 0.83% in 2001.
