《欲望号街车》(以下简称《街车》)和《热铁皮屋顶上的猫》(以下简称《猫》)是美国著名戏剧家田纳西·威廉斯的两部名著,分别创作于1947年和1955年。虽然有八年的间隔,这两部名剧却共同有着威廉斯标签式的特点:主人公的过去痛苦而不堪回首,现在麻木而只堪逃避,未来飘渺而令人绝望;两剧也正是因为这八年的时间跨度,折射了剧作家内心世界的变化。就像音高跨八度的两件乐器,《街车》和《猫》达成了奇妙的重奏。
