《微神》是老舍小说中非常特别的作品。很多人最初读的时候,都会产生惊异:“咦!老舍还写过这样的小说呀和!”这一印象不是随便得出的。因为,老舍平常不专写爱情题材的小说,用他自己的话来说,他“在题材上不敢摸这个禁果”,“差不多老是把恋爱作为副笔”。而《微神》却是地地道道的爱情故事,与老舍许多作品不同,这是一。二是《微神》的写法特别。老舍绝大多数作品是写实主义的,像《猫城记》那种象征讽喻性的作品只属于个别事例。而这篇《微神》,却作了许多新的探索,比《猫城记》还走得远些,它是带有较多现代主义色彩,有些笔墨甚至相当费解的作品。这两点加在一起,就给人新鲜的感觉,异常的感觉。
