雪莱是英国十九世纪初最伟大的抒情诗人之一。他的诗作抒情性强,情感细腻,音韵和谐,意境高远富有浪漫主义气质。他的代表作《西风颂》,历来被视作世界诗歌中一块瑰宝,和抒情诗中的极品。全诗气势恢宏,文笔俊逸,想像新奇,结构严谨,对于这么一个从内容到形式,从语言到格律都非常完美的作品,要想把它移植过来,绝非易事。早在二十多年前郭沫若就把它译成中文,此后陆续出现近十种不同版本的译文。本文从中选取了上世纪中国社会不同发展阶段,非常具有影响力和代表性的译文,从语言特色、表达形式、艺术风格等方面结合雪莱诗歌本身的艺术特色进行比较分析,探讨其不同的翻译方法对原诗的把握,并在此基础上,探讨译文的得失,希望为进一步提高英诗汉译水平提供借鉴。
