Objective: To explore the relationship between secondary school students’ extraversion, self-esteem, positive coping and life satisfaction. Methods: A total of 2,357 middle school students were investigated using the Pacer Scales, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, the Coping Styles Questionnaire, and the Life Satisfaction Questionnaire. Results: 1 Correlation analysis showed that there was a significant positive correlation between extroversion, self-esteem, active coping and life satisfaction. Structural equation modeling analysis shows that the direct effects of extroversion on life satisfaction are significant, self-esteem and coping styles have a significant mediating effect on the relationship between extroversion and life satisfaction, and the role of chain mediation in self-esteem-coping style is significant. CONCLUSIONS: Extroversion affects individual life satisfaction both through direct pathways and through indirect pathways such as self-esteem, positive coping mediation, and self-esteem-positive coping mediation.
