Lambda (lanbda, λ) diodes are two-terminal devices with bistable switching characteristics that can easily be integrated on the same chip with other devices for applications in protection, switching, oscillators and digital memory circuits. Negative resistance devices with single-junction transistors and SCRs, previously only used in the pulse and switching circuits. However, a new monolithic negative resistance device, the lambda diode, is widely used in new applications and also simplifies the design of many common circuits. In fact, the Lambda diode is a simple, two-terminal device consisting of a pair of complementary depletion, junction field effect transistors. The important characteristic of this diode is that it is more than normal
