In early 1998, the U.S. Navy’s Airborne Rapid Lightning System (RAMICS) became the subject of an advanced technology demonstration program managed by the Naval Research Agency (ONR), which had a total funding of $ 15 million. Airborne Rapid Lightning System is based on the LIDAR and standard machine guns that can launch super-vacuumed projectiles to combat surface and near-surface mines. MK197 machine gun was used in advanced technology demonstration. The helicopter’s airborne system uses a specially developed 20mm bullet. The target mine to be dealt with by the rapid airborne lightning protection system is re-probed by the optical detection and ranging system. This light detection and ranging system is based on the technology developed by Kaman Aerospace for its “magic light” system. In addition, the airborne rapid lightning protection system also uses an improved version of the launch control computer of the U.S. Navy’s Fransker short-range weapon system.
