A company that tries to avoid a huge tax bill may appear to be completely lawful but in fact runs counter to the ethical bottom line, just like playing with fire. Will there be any ways companies can change them in the face of public opposition? Companies such as Google, Amazon and Starbucks have been accused of avoiding billions of pounds in taxes, and industry associations and consultants for these companies state that their actions are in compliance with the law. Corporate lobbying also claims that the media largely failed to fully understand the nuances of this incredible complex issue and thus fail to convey the correct explanation to the public concerned about the issue.
