彭苏萍院士是江西萍乡人,著名的安源煤矿就在萍乡。从小他便与煤炭结下不解之缘。彭苏萍个头不高,人显得瘦小精干。他是矿山工程地质与工程物探专家,长期致力于煤炭安全开采、地质保障系统研究。他的研究工作直接关系到井下千万矿工的生命安全。在中国矿业大学煤炭资源与安全开采重点实验室,我见到了正忙碌的彭院士,他一会儿与助手摆弄矿井地质雷达和多波地震仪设备;一会儿和同事们讨论煤矿高分辨三维地震勘探图。一个小时的采访拍照下来,记者意犹未尽,与彭院士商量要随同他到煤矿采掘 Academician Peng Suping is a native of Pingxiang, Jiangxi Province.
