胃及十二指肠溃疡是指局限性圆形或椭圆形的全层黏膜缺损,是发生在临近于幽门两侧的慢性溃疡.因溃疡的形成与胃酸-蛋白酶的消化作用有关,也称为消化性溃疡,是男性青壮年常见病.溃疡多为单个,直径一般不大于2cm,深达黏膜下层,重者可达肌层、浆膜.溃疡具有不易愈合或愈合后又易复发的倾向;在疾病过程中病情发展,溃疡侵及血管引起大出血,侵蚀全层则出现急性穿孔.胃溃疡有恶变的可能,而十二指肠溃疡一般不会恶变.幽门处较大溃疡愈合后可形成瘢痕性幽门狭窄.
