In Fei’s description, Ritual maintained the order of the village, at the right time to enlighten the power, and the state exercised imprudent politics over the village. This is a traditional native China. However, since the modernization movement, state power began to go deep into villages and even extended to families. Villages were no longer free villages far away from Heaven and High Emperor. The application of external forces made the villages no longer have a single nature. Perhaps, this is just a theory
