Japan’s KDD Corporation will lay a $ 100 million undersea fiber optic cable between Japan and Taiwan and 24 telecom companies in 15 countries will participate in the project. Taiwan International Telecommunication Development Corporation (ITDC) is the largest investor in the project, followed by KDD with 17% of investments. The submarine cable will provide more than 7,500 calls and will connect with three other submarine cables, namely the 3rd Trans-Pacific Cable (TPC-3), the Guam-Philippine-Taiwan Submarine Cable and the 4th Trans-Pacific Ocean Submarine Cable (TPC-4), which will become part of the Pacific Submarine Cable Network
