我的朋友张德强是一个没有工作及科研经历的中国内地医学院毕业生,从国内直接参加了USMLE考试(美国医师执照考试),最终取得了美国住院医生职位,在2009年6月赴美行医。其实,小强同学的目标,难度很大。要知道,美国每年提供24000个住院医生职位,只有1/3是被美国以外的医学毕业生取得,其中大部分又被印度、巴基斯坦等国家的医学毕业生获得,留给中国医学毕业生的机会非常少,尤其是对没有绿卡和工作经验的医学毕业生来说,这几乎是一项“不可能的任务”。
My friend Zhang Deqiang was a graduate of a medical school in Mainland China who had no work or research experience. He took the USMLE exam (American physician license exam) directly from home and eventually obtained the position of an American resident doctor and went to the United States to practice medicine in June 2009. In fact, Xiao Qiang’s goal is very difficult. We must know that the United States provides 24,000 resident positions each year, and only 1/3 of them are obtained by medical graduates outside the United States. Most of them are also acquired by medical graduates from India, Pakistan, and other countries, leaving an opportunity for Chinese medical graduates. Very few, especially for medical graduates without green cards and work experience, this is almost an “impossible task.”
