Achlorophosphate Ⅲ is a better reagent for the determination of the total amount of rare earths discovered in 1961. However, it can be complexed with magnesium, calcium, strontium, barium, titanium, zirconium, hafnium, thorium and uranium under different acidity, so the anti-interference ability is worse when using binary complex to measure the total amount of rare earth. The addition of cationic surfactants to form ternary complexes increases selectivity and sensitivity, but can not be used for direct colorimetric determination of the total rare earth content in soils because of the interference of titanium.
