在其它酸性介质(无机或有机酸)及甲醛存在下,微量甲酸的分析是一个难题。用化学法分析微量甲酸易受其它酸性物质的干扰,选择氧化法虽能测定草酸和醋酸存在下的微量甲酸,但手续繁琐,且氧化剂难制备。Ahman使用气相色谱法分析挥发性的脂肪酸后指出,微量甲酸不可能用火焰离子化检测器检出,而用热导灵敏度低。有人曾用火焰离子化检测器检出过甲酸,但响应值很小。据报导采用离子交换液相色谱法能检出0.1ppm的甲酸,但处理方法复杂,而且不适宜于工厂控制分析。

It has been reported that 0.1 ppm of formic acid can be detected by ion exchange liquid chromatography, but the processing method is complicated and not suitable for plant control analysis.
