Introduction The silkworm, owing to its economic bearings, had been under domestication since the beginning of (?)ivilization of this country. The species reared through numberless generations by sericulturists maintains its existence chiefly through the aid of artificial attendance. Under the influence of guardianship by man, its capacity of independent living in natural environment has practically disappeared, and its responses to various stimuli vary from being comparatively tardy to sluggish, which features bring the silkworm in a great contrast with most of other insects, which live independently and flourish in nature.
