India’s intervention in the South China Sea can not only balance the impact of the Chinese navy’s activities in the Indian Ocean to a certain extent, but also provide possible opportunities for its access to the South China Sea energy. On the other hand, India can demonstrate its increasingly important strategic position in East Asia. On August 22, 2012, India officially opened the Basque military base located on the Andaman-Nicobar Islands in southern India. The archipelago is India’s gateway to East and Southeast Asia, while the Buz military base is India’s most important window for monitoring the throat of the sea of international importance, the Strait of Malacca, so that China can directly monitor the ships entering and leaving the Indian Ocean. Hong Kong’s Central News Agency commented that India’s move is precisely against China’s strategy in the Indian Ocean region.
