前年,在一次独唱音乐会上,著名女高音歌唱家于淑珍和后起之秀关牧村同台演出时,似乎有些压不住台。这种情形当时曾引起舆论的窃窃私议。多是为这两代歌唱家之间的关系表示耽心。巧得很,后来天津歌剧院到上海演出时又出现同样情况时,不久就传出于淑珍主动提出把“压台戏”让给小关承当的消息。此举一出,人们的耽心冰销雪逝,在文艺界人们争赞于淑珍的高风格,传为佳话。我觉得,于淑珍“让台”之举所以受到赞誉,除由于她的风格高尚有以致之以外,还在于她具有一种艺术家的胆识。
