甜菜是凉城县开发性优势经济作物,在1985年调整种植业结构中占有重要位置。甜菜捉苗是种好甜菜至关重要的一环,1985年凉城甜菜总指导面积16957亩,其中保苗11489亩,占67.7％,毁种5468亩,占32.3％。造成甜菜大面积毁种的原因,经分析,可以总结成以下几点。
