激光雷达是传统的雷达技术与现代激光技术相结合的产物,是一项具有军民两用前景的高新技术。与传统雷达相比,激光雷达发射的激光束,波长短得多,波束窄得多,因而可以获得极高的角分辨率和极高的距离分辨率,并能够获得清晰的目标图像。而且激光雷达测速范围广,利用多普勒技术,可以获得高的速度分辨率。此外,激光雷达抗干扰能力强,体积和重量都比传统雷达小得多。所以,激光雷达受到军事部门的关注是不足为奇的。
