Poplar clump cultivation mode is an innovative agroforestry management mode proposed based on the socio-economic and natural conditions of the main producing areas of poplar in China. It minimizes the poplar area from 100% to 5% ~ 10%, reduces poplar contact with crops and competes with each other, with agriculture as the mainstay, minimizes the side effects of poplar on crops and ensures that crops high yield. On the other hand, the Yangshu Tuan has such good site conditions for farmland that it can long-term share agricultural inputs for water, fertilizer and soil cultivation. The poplar’s high quality and high yield can also be guaranteed. Help to solve the problem of unqualified sites, extensive operations and excessive density, which have long plagued poplar development. Compared with the traditional afforestation methods, poplar cultivation in clumps has more disadvantages and less impact on agriculture and long-term harmony in agriculture and forestry, reaching a win-win situation. Under the condition of scarce land resources in the plain agricultural areas of our country and under the condition of insufficient supply of national timber, poplar clump cultivation mode has important practical value for poplar development.
