蛏子,又称缢蛏,是我国南方沿海滩涂都有的海产经济贝类、闽、浙两省尤多。闻名世界的“长街蛏子”的原产地在宁海县长街镇一带。特点是体大壳薄,肉质肥嫩,鲜美适口。两年生的蛏子体长可达8厘米左右,每公斤约有40个,深受国内外消费者的青睐。主要养殖区在三门湾内港,这里风浪平静、气候温暖、盐度适中、潮流畅通、涂质肥沃、饵料丰富、有淡水注入,适宜蛏子的栖息生长,所以这里养殖的蛏子生长特别好。
