古代人们在中秋,都要祭拜月神,祭供过后,将作供品的饼食分吃,沿传下来,已有三千年。那时,江浙一带产生的“太师饼”可以说是我国月饼的祖宗了。张骞通西域后,传入了芝麻,胡桃,为月饼增加了煨料,当时生产出来的圆饼叫胡饼。唐朝时在京城长安就开始有糕饼铺,有从事专业生产的饼师,品种也有了发展。一年,唐玄宗和杨贵妃中秋佳节赏月,在吃糕饼时,唐玄宗嫌胡饼叫法不好听,杨贵妃仰望皎洁的明月,脱口而出“月饼”,从此“月饼”一名就传开来。 有关“月饼”一词的文字记载,据说最早见于南宋吴自牧的《梦梁录》,当时,中秋赏月食月饼之风已很流行。清代富察敦新撰写的《燕京岁时记·月饼》记载:“……至供月,月饼到处绋有,大者尺余,是绘至除夕而食者。谓之团圆
