游泳运动员全都应该在年轻的时候打好正确技术动作和中长游的基础。从一开始就学会正确的动作姿势要比在以后去改坏习惯容易得多。另外,运动员在发育期间就开始增强耐力,增加力量和增大肺活量是十分有好处的。
