预应力是为了改善结构服役表现,在施工期间给结构预先施加的压应力,结构服役期间预加压应力可全部或部分抵消荷载导致的拉应力,避免结构破坏。常用于混凝土结构,是在混凝土结构承受荷载之前,预先对其施加压力,使其在外荷载作用时的受拉区混凝土内力产生压应力,用以抵消或减小外荷载产生的拉应力,使结构在正常使用的情况下不产生裂缝或者裂得比较晚。在工程结构构件承受外荷载之前,对受拉模块中的钢筋,施加预压应力,提高构件的刚度,推迟裂缝出现的时间,增加构件的耐久性。对于机械结构来看,其含义为预先使其产生应力,其好处是可以提高构造本身刚性,减少振动和弹性变形这样做可以明显改善受拉模块的弹性强度,使原本的抗性更强。
