我国江苏南部地区往往会在局部地段遇到一种膨胀性土地基。由于膨胀土的分布规律性差,地质资料贫乏,加之对膨胀土的鉴定判别至今尚无一套成熟的及完善的理论与方法,而借用常规土工试验指标来区分或依据技术人员的专业知识和经验进行判别,其结果常常是因人而异。因此在工程地质勘察过程中往往容易误将膨胀性土当作一般粘性土对待,以致造成不良后果。例如,南京9424厂在范围很大的厂区内一般均为粘性土地层,但由于对局部地段的膨胀土地基未予以重视,因而导致该厂家属生活区的房屋发生严重裂缝,影响了使用。如何采取简捷而可靠的方法对膨胀土作
