“Confucius and Altar” is a Taoist literary book produced in the northwestern region of China in the Middle Ages. Its original Chinese text has been lost, but only the Xixia version survived. The predecessors have found that the clues of the book are applied to “Zhuangzi. Fisherman.” This article further points out that the original time of writing Chinese should be after the middle of the Tang Dynasty, with the blending of Buddhism and Taoism, and the author’s The cultural level is not high, which is a reflection of the secularization of Buddhism and Taoism in the Tang and Song Dynasties and the Western Xia Dynasty. At the end of this article, we use the translation of Xixia to construct the corresponding Chinese version, hoping to provide basic information for the study of Xixia studies and ancient Hexi folk literature.
