流散建院80年来,故宫博物院在典守、征集书画等文物方面,可谓殚精竭虑、不遗余力。在故宫博物院成立之前,清逊帝溥仪以赏赐溥杰等名义盗运出宫1000余件书画,这是清宫所藏书画中最为珍贵的部分,《伯远帖》、《中秋帖》、《清明上河图》等巨品就在其中。1933年,故宫大量珍贵文物开始了艰难的南迁之行,尔后,部分文物又运抵台湾,其中包括5526件唐宋元和部分明清书画,成为1965年成立的台北故宫博物院的主要书画藏品。
