Taking Yangtze River Delta (including 25 cities above prefecture level in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai) as the research object, this paper evaluates the spatial and temporal differences in the process of globalization in the Yangtze River Delta from four aspects: economic connection, personnel flow, information exchange and government cooperation As well as the dependence and spatial autocorrelation between different cities. In addition, the changes of different indexes are discussed in depth. The research shows that the degree of globalization in the region shows different stages in the world due to the positive impact of the accession to the WTO in 2001 and the successful hosting of the World Expo in Shanghai in 2010, as well as the negative impact of the SARS in China and the financial crisis in 2008. From a time series point of view, from 2000 to 2009, the globalization in the Yangtze River Delta showed an accelerating, steady rise and a relatively steady development process, but different indicators showed different characteristics. From the perspective of spatial pattern, the degree of globalization in the Yangtze River Delta region has gradually shifted from relatively concentrated to a more reasonable equilibrium direction, and that in the backward regions has increased rapidly and the urban system under the influence of globalization has become more rational. From the analysis of the mechanism of action, market and administrative factors jointly promote the process of urban globalization.
