For a long time, China’s literary theory criticism has always been shrouded in the shadow of Western theory. Western theories can be driven into China’s literary theory critical discourse through intermediaries of translation. Although some variations in theoretical travel occur, such travel and mutation have long been one-sided, from west to east. It should be a gratifying noteworthy fact that a recent lecture by the American literary theorist Willis Miller, published in both the West and China at the same time, changed the path to one-way travel of this theory and added part of the dialogue with Chinese scholars beginning. The author believes that the rapid development of China’s economy makes Chinese culture and literary theory go to the world also referred to the Chinese scholars on the agenda. In this respect, Miller’s dialogue with Chinese scholar Zhang Jiang can be a foretaste of the two-way trip of this theory. However, as a Chinese scholar, we should actively communicate and dialogue with western and international mainstream scholars. Maybe the intermediary of translation would make the theory of China mutate in the western world, but it is worth it if the dialogue between Chinese and Western literary theories can be sustained.
