On September 28, 1949, a small-scale guerrilla group in Huadong District, southwest of Guangdong’s Baise County was surrounded by local armed forces of the Kuomintang in the Humble Village and its deputy party secretary and four guerrillas were sacrificed. More than 60 years later, a farmer entrepreneur in Hapjeong village remembered revolutionary martyrs and invested more than 4.8 million yuan to build a memorial to the Arid Plains. Some people say he did not do anything worth it, but he himself was very pleased.
