Introduction To meet the needs of women in combat, the Naval Air Warfare Center (NAWC) investigated the ability of small stature women to fly under G stress. Methods This study used a NAWC powered flight simulator (DFS) with the configuration of the F-18 aircraft cockpit, display and control system. Determine if these individuals have muscle endurance to perform the operation and perform emergency high-performance flight and sufficient neck strength to support increased head weight. Seven subjects were trained under DFS to perform four simulated missions including 1h bombing flight, SAM dodge (repeating a series of short turns from +3.6 Gz to +7.2 Gz), in-flight catches and single engine failure. The latter investigated how the pressure needed to stabilize the return of the joystick and how to apply the rudder to balance the aircraft affected by the flight skills, including the ILS landing mission. Operating skills according to training parameters of the deviation
