作者介绍了欧洲ICU病房的结构及组成特点,Vincent等人利用EPIC数据库中的信息,对欧洲14国ICU的规模及结构进行了比较分析,结果发现不同国家的ICU病房之间存在很大差异。例如:大部分ICU病房小于6张床位,67％的ICU有指定的病房主任,72％的ICU病房有24h全天值班医生;在英国及南欧,ICU收治病情较重者,且住院时间较长。
The author introduced the structure and composition of European ICU wards. Vincent et al. used the information in the EPIC database to compare and analyze the scale and structure of the 14 ICUs in Europe. The results showed that there were significant differences between ICUs in different countries. For example, most ICU wards are less than 6 beds, 67% of ICUs have designated ward directors, 72% of ICU wards have 24h daytime doctors; in the UK and southern Europe, ICUs are severely ill and have long hospital stays. .
