南宁地区产糖、量居广西各地(市)第一,92/93年榨季产糖59.5万吨,占全国的7.75％,占广西的26.3％;93/94年榨季产糖70.2万吨,占全国的11.7％,占广西的31.5％;1994年尽管遭受严重的灾害,但94/95年榨季产糖仍达56.7万吨,占全国的10.6％,占广西的32.6％。糖业总产值占工业总产值的45.8％,蔗糖收入占全地区财政的比重由1990年的22.1％提高
