洪汝奎公善堂刊本《大唐開元禮》之刊行及其得失問題,學者討論者鮮見。從公善堂刊本《大唐開元禮》之編刊過程言之,《大唐開元禮》在付梓前,洪汝奎廣泛搜羅所見衆抄本,並延請朱紹頤,委以校勘之役,洪汝奎搜羅衆抄本,具體屬何人所藏,今多可推知,原書則不知所歸,而朱紹頤等原校本今藏南京圖書館。據此校本,可知公善堂刊本《大唐開元禮》在光緒五年朱紹頤匯校衆抄本之後,又經王幼齋、曉亭等覆校,歷經此兩次校勘,由此形成公善堂刊本《大唐開元禮》之文本依據。但朱紹頤所據諸本並非最佳抄本,且無論朱紹頤匯校衆本,抑或王幼齋、曉亭等人覆校,在具體文字擇定上,均不乏失校、誤校之例,故公善堂刊本作爲校勘性文本,其具體文字並非盡然可從。《大唐開元禮》雖無宋刊本傳世,而從目前國内圖書館所藏相關抄本言之,匯整精抄本而詳校之,進而形成校勘性善本,仍具一定可行性。
