After joining the WTO, foreign banks can immediately provide all foreign exchange business to foreign clients in China. A year after China’s accession to the WTO, foreign banks can provide foreign exchange business to Chinese customers. Chinese-foreign joint-venture banks are allowed to operate immediately and wholly foreign-owned banks will be allowed to operate within 5 years. Foreign banks will be allowed to run the company’s renminbi business within two years and be allowed to operate individual residents within five years
