在法老时期的埃及,没有专指奴隶的术语,几个表示奴隶的词同时也有其他的含义。而希腊化时期的史料中,比法老时期有利的一点是有了专指奴隶的法律术语——δουλοζ或αυδραποδου(由于希腊语成了官方语言,所以这个时期大量的纸草文献是用希腊语写成的)。但是,这类词极少出现,常用的是παιδαοιου,πατζ,παιδισκη(男孩,孩子的意思),它们也可以指自由人。因此,我们在买卖奴隶的契约和追捕逃亡奴隶的启事
In Pharaonic Egypt, there was no specific term for slavery, and several expressions of slave meanings at the same time. Among the Hellenistic historical materials, however, a point more favorable than the Pharaonic period was the legal term specifically referring to slavery - either όοουοο or αυδραποδου (due to the fact that Greek was the official language, a large number of papyrus articles of this period were written in Greek of).
