Definition Calcium antagonist (Ca-A) is a group of drugs that can inhibit the calcium-dependent (Ca ~ (++)) dependent process. As early as the late 1960s, Fleckenstein, based on the fact that some drugs inhibit slow Ca ~ (++) currents in ventricular myocytes, decouple excitatory-contractile activity and increase exogenous Ca ~ (++) A concept. Now that Ca-A should have the following properties: 1) the inhibition of the heart can be Ca ~ (++) reverse; 2) to prevent poisoning isoproterenol induced myocardial intracellular Ca ~ (++) accumulation; 3) Selectively inhibit Ca ~ (++) component in myocardial action potential; 4) inhibit Ca ~ (++) - dependent slow channel action potentials and muscle tension. There are many other names of Ca-A, such as Ca ~ (++) channel antagonist
